The tool helps small business owners, workers, and other personnel obtain a deeper understanding of the core concepts associated with identifying hazards in the workplace and raises awareness of available OSHA resources. Designed as a game-based training tool, it presents a series of visual representations through four scenarios modeled after different industry workplaces. Workplace areas covered in the scenarios include inspection training, manufacturing, construction, and emergency room, and each scenario challenges the player to identify and solve potential safety and health hazards related to each workplace. Users may play as either a worker or a business owner.
Users may download the Hazard Identification tool at no charge through OSHA’s website, although play requires an updated version of the free Unity Web Player browser plugin. Developed by the Directorate of Standards and Guidance with assistance from the Directorates of Training and Education and Construction, the tool is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems.
